The purpose of the DID number is to allow you to receive external phone calls directly to your phone, bypassing the Main Lobby console. This will reduce the amount of call volume at the console, and give the attendant the opportunity to more efficiently process calls from clients and prospective clients. The DID will be installed in addition to your current phone extension, giving you the ability to continue to use your current extension for internal calls. However, it will be necessary for you to notify individuals and businesses who call you from external sources of your new DID number so that they can access your phone directly.
