I loved his early novel Wikipedia:Talking_Man and the later novel Wikipedia:Fire_on_the_Mountain_

Two of his short stories are often referenced (at least by me), and available online:

He apparently wrote the novelization for the film Johnny Mnemonic. Now that’s different.

What of the NO FRILLS books ?? That’s weird....

If there is anything more aggravating to the serious writer than a very clever commercial idea he didn’t think of, it’s a very commercial idea craftily done.Serious writers are often driven to disguise themselves as book reviewers in the face of such aggravation. Then they can say: No frills, indeed! These books are only 60 pages long and sell for $1.50 each! For about twice that one can get 10 times as much James Michener, and he is a brand name even if he isn’t cute as a bunny. Besides, the very idea of selling a book as an objet (what the French would call le thing) is offensive to every literate person.

In fact, to put matters into the kind of sentence heard almost exclusively in literature, the excellence of these books just makes them that much worse. All four are true parodies in the manner of Max Beerbohm’s A Christmas Garland and as deft.
