What does the filler text “lorem ipsum” mean?

 

There is a plethora of sites using the address and ... hoping to profit off graphic designers, desperate for filler-text?!???

 

http://www.lipsum.com/ - aka “lorem ipsum - all the facts”: generator, plus plugins for perl, firefox, etc. Visually busy
http://www.loremipsum.net/ - a small personal site dating back to the mid-90s. Has two small ads on it. Minimal and well-designed.
http://www.lorem-ipsum.info/ - Seems to be promo-piece for a design agency, but layout is broken in my Firefox. Text is pale blue on white and hard to read. THERE IS A =BLINK= TAG  (well, animated GIF with blinking text. same thing) that points to their lorem ipsum generator with lots of options, including different languages.
