VisualAddiction: Andy Warhol

Warhol was an early inspiration for me -- I wanted to be able to treat writing like he treated art. The idea that a written thing could be an object, and that reproductions would not be in the realm of hundreds or tens of thousands, but tens or hundreds, like a silk screen.

Also alongside ideas of writing like Pollock painted -- flinging words and letters, which would be the|an anthithesis of mass-producing writing.

Via Warhol I went into concrete poetry via the typewriter, producing things that had texture and individuality that were written objects.

My family subscribed to Amigaworld, but the subscription started after that issue. As a Warhol fan at the time, the irony was not lost on me.
